iKonto Biznes from Alior Bank — Review

iKonto Biznes is Alior Bank's basic business account, aimed at entrepreneurs running a sole proprietorship as well as small businesses. The account focuses on cost simplicity — a zero fee for maintaining the basic account and free external transfers — and additionally offers an extensive, multi-stage bonus package for new customers. In this review, we check how much the account really costs to use and how difficult it is in practice to collect the advertised bonus.

Fees and Charges

Maintaining the basic account under iKonto Biznes is free of charge — the monthly fee is PLN 0 and is not tied to any additional activity conditions. This applies only to the main account; for customers who need an additional sub-account, the bank offers a chargeable auxiliary account priced at PLN 10 per month.

External transfers — both domestic (Elixir) and those directed to ZUS or the tax office — are free, as are outgoing SEPA transfers in the SHA cost option. A Mastercard z Plusem card in the business variant is attached to the account. The bank currently does not charge a monthly fee for its use — the card fee exemption applies under a promotion running until 31 October 2027. After the promotion ends, the card will cost PLN 8 per month, unless the holder makes at least 4 cashless transactions in a given month — in which case the fee remains PLN 0.

Cash withdrawals with the card are free at Alior Bank ATMs without limit, and at Euronet and Planet Cash network ATMs the bank does not charge a fee for the first two withdrawals in a month — each subsequent one costs PLN 5. At other domestic ATMs from other networks, you should expect a commission of 3% of the withdrawal amount, minimum PLN 5. This is a real cost to keep in mind if the business uses cash outside the bank's partner network.

Bonus and Additional Features

The headline bonus for opening iKonto Biznes is up to PLN 4,400, but this amount consists of four separate elements with very different levels of difficulty — and only part of it is real cash.

  • PLN 500 starting bonus — the simplest element of the package. You only need to make cashless payments with the Mastercard z Plusem card or BLIK code totaling at least PLN 500 within the first 14 days of holding the account, and have active marketing consents. This is a one-off, easily achievable threshold.
  • Up to PLN 3,000 in the Premia Moneyback promotion — the most demanding element. The cashback is 10% of the value of cashless payments made with the card or BLIK, but is capped at a maximum of PLN 300 per month and paid out for 10 months. To receive the cashback in a given month, you need to generate at least PLN 2,000 in cashless turnover AND make one transfer to ZUS. This means ten months of systematic, fairly high payment activity — realistically achievable for a business with regular card turnover, but not easy for someone who pays mainly by transfer or in cash.
  • PLN 500 bonus after a year — paid out 12 months after applying for the card, provided the Premia Moneyback conditions were met at least 10 times within those 12 months. In practice, this is a bonus for maintaining the activity above for almost an entire year, not a separate, easily met condition.
  • Up to PLN 400 in the Mastercard Bezcenne Chwile program — this is not cash, but up to 32,000 loyalty points to be exchanged for rewards from the program's catalog (including e-vouchers). The value of this element is therefore conditional and depends on what the points are redeemed for.

To sum up: you can realistically and relatively easily count on PLN 500 in cash at the start. The remaining nearly PLN 4,000 requires ten months of regular, fairly high (min. PLN 2,000 per month) cashless payments and a monthly transfer to ZUS, and its last part (PLN 400) is points, not funds in the account. This is a bonus that is attractive for a business that would settle by card and BLIK at this scale anyway — it is not an "easy PLN 4,400," but a multi-stage loyalty program spread over the whole year.

Besides the bonus, the account offers Alior Business mobile and online banking, Google Pay and Apple Pay payments, a built-in online currency exchange, and online accounting with Comarch software integration, enabling automatic data retrieval from KSeF. The card supports online payments, contactless payments, and cashback.

Who It's For

iKonto Biznes will work best for sole proprietorships and small businesses that settle day-to-day with the card and BLIK, have a steady, several-thousand-zloty monthly cashless turnover, and regularly pay ZUS contributions from the same account — only this profile allows you to realistically use most of the offered bonus. For a business that mainly uses transfers or cash, the account still makes sense thanks to the zero maintenance fee and free transfers, but then chasing the full bonus amount loses its point.

How to Open the Account

The account is opened fully online, via the application form available on Alior Bank's website. After filling it out and verifying your identity, the account is activated, and the clock for the promotional conditions (e.g., 14 days for the Starting Bonus) starts running from the moment the account is opened or the card application is submitted.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • PLN 0 for maintaining the basic account, with no conditions
  • Free domestic transfers, transfers to ZUS/the tax office, and SEPA (SHA)
  • Card free of charge until 31 October 2027, and afterward still PLN 0 with 4 transactions per month
  • Free withdrawals at Alior Bank ATMs and the first two at Euronet/Planet Cash
  • Online currency exchange, online accounting with KSeF integration, Google Pay, and Apple Pay

Cons

  • The bonus is broken into many conditions spread over 12 months — hard to obtain in full
  • Up to PLN 3,000 of the bonus requires as much as PLN 2,000 of cashless turnover and a transfer to ZUS every month for 10 months
  • The last bonus component (up to PLN 400) is loyalty points, not cash
  • 3% (min. PLN 5) commission for withdrawals at ATMs outside the partner network
  • The auxiliary account is chargeable (PLN 10 per month)

Summary

iKonto Biznes is a business account that is inexpensive to maintain — no maintenance fee, free transfers, and a fee-free card for the next few years. The advertised bonus of up to PLN 4,400 is real, but mostly conditional and spread over a full year of regular payment activity — it pays off most for businesses that already use the card and BLIK intensively and pay their ZUS contributions from this account. For everyone else, the account is still a solid, free choice, just without a realistic chance at the full bonus amount.
