Konto Biznes z Żubrem – who this Bank Pekao offer is for
Konto Biznes z Żubrem is a Bank Pekao business account aimed at entrepreneurs setting up a new business as well as those who have been running a company for some time and are looking for a new current account. The offer combines the standard features of a business account (transfers, a debit card, mobile banking) with an extensive bonus programme in which you can collect up to PLN 5,000 – but, as the analysis below shows, this is a sum made up of several independent, fairly demanding conditions, not a one-off bonus for simply opening the account.
Fees and charges
The account maintenance fee ranges from PLN 0 to 15 per month. You pay zero once you meet the activity conditions set by the bank – in practice this means maintaining regular inflows to the account (the bank indicates a threshold of around PLN 2,000 per month) or making at least one transfer to ZUS in a given month, with the additional condition of giving marketing consents. If these conditions are not met, the fee is PLN 15 per month.
External transfers cost from PLN 0 to 1.50 – the exact rate depends on the channel and type of transfer, but the upper limit is low for a business account.
A MasterCard Business card is issued with the account, currently operating under the "PLN 2,000 bonus for your business" promotion (this is the same pool of funds as part of the main PLN 5,000 bonus – see below). The card fee ranges from PLN 0 to 12 per month: it is zero if in a given month you settle non-cash card transactions totalling at least PLN 500, otherwise you pay PLN 12. Withdrawals from Pekao ATMs are free, as are the first two withdrawals per month from third-party ATM networks – each subsequent withdrawal from a third-party ATM in Poland costs 2% of the amount, minimum PLN 5. Abroad, a cash withdrawal carries a fee of at least PLN 5. The card supports online and contactless payments.
Bonus and additional features
The headline amount of PLN 5,000 is the sum of five separate bonuses, each requiring a separate action – it's worth breaking this down before treating this figure as an easy-to-obtain bonus:
- PLN 200 – for setting up a business with the bank or signing an account and card contract for that account, if the business is already running. This is the only element of the package achievable virtually immediately and without additional effort.
- Up to PLN 2,000 – for non-cash transactions by card, phone or watch (Google Pay, Garmin Pay, Apple Pay) totalling at least PLN 500 per month. This is the largest part of the bonus, but it requires maintaining regular card payment activity over a longer period, not a one-off transaction.
- PLN 800 – for signing a contract for a Bank Pekao payment terminal and accepting payments on it. This applies only to businesses that actually accept card payments in person – for a service provider operating without a terminal, this element is unachievable.
- PLN 600 – for activating a credit limit of at least PLN 5,000. This is a credit commitment, not a simple administrative action – it involves an assessment of the business's creditworthiness and the interest cost of the limit.
- PLN 600 – for making a transfer to Pekao Leasing as payment of a leasing instalment. This applies only to clients simultaneously using leasing within the same capital group.
In other words, the realistically achievable amount depends on the business's profile: an entrepreneur without a terminal, without leasing and without a need for a credit limit will in practice collect PLN 200 for opening the account plus – with regular card payments – up to PLN 2,000 spread over time. The full PLN 5,000 is reserved for businesses that simultaneously use a payment terminal, leasing and a credit limit with Pekao – a much narrower group than the headline figure suggests.
Besides the bonus and the payment card, the account offers: a mobile app, BLIK payments, NFC technology, an online currency exchange, and support for the digital wallets Google Pay, Apple Pay and Garmin Pay. The bank also mentions additional offer elements available from the PeoPay app level, such as an accounting platform integrating with the National e-Invoice System (KSeF), free BLIK withdrawals and the possibility of running currency accounts – it is, however, worth verifying the current terms of these services directly on the bank's website, as they may be covered by a separate promotional regulation.
Who this account is for
Konto Biznes z Żubrem will work best for entrepreneurs who simultaneously: accept card payments (in person via a Pekao terminal or online), pay for current expenses with a business card, and potentially use or plan to use a credit limit or leasing within the same banking group. For such a client, the total bonus can realistically approach the headline PLN 5,000. For a sole proprietorship providing services, settling mainly by transfer without a terminal and without a need for external financing, the realistic gain from the bonus programme is more likely to be a few hundred zlotys, rather than the whole advertised amount – which doesn't mean the account is a bad choice, just that it's worth calculating consciously before opening the account.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Possibility of being exempt from the account maintenance fee and the card fee when meeting activity conditions
- Low maximum fee for external transfers (up to PLN 1.50)
- Wide range of payment methods: BLIK, NFC, Google Pay, Apple Pay, Garmin Pay
- Extensive bonus programme for businesses actively using a terminal, credit limit or leasing
- Online currency exchange included with the account
Cons
- The full PLN 5,000 bonus requires meeting as many as five independent conditions, some unavailable without a payment terminal, leasing or a credit limit
- Without meeting the activity conditions, the account maintenance fee (PLN 15) and card fee (PLN 12) add up to a noticeable monthly cost
- A fee for withdrawals from third-party ATMs after using the two free withdrawals (2% min. PLN 5)
- No precise pricing for domestic transfers broken down by channel in the source data
Summary
Konto Biznes z Żubrem is an offer with real savings potential – a zero fee for maintenance and the card is achievable with typical business activity – but the headline bonus of PLN 5,000 is the sum of five separate bonuses of varying difficulty. Before opening the account, it's worth honestly assessing how many of these conditions your business will actually meet: for an entrepreneur using a terminal, credit limit and leasing at Pekao, this is an attractive package; for a business operating solely on transfers, the real gain will be much more modest than the advertised amount.
